Founders Friday: My sister’s been there from day one

Hey Hairbrella Fam,

It’s National Siblings Day—and the perfect day to shout out my amazing sister, Ashlee, who’s been there from day one.

And if you have a sibling, you already know.

Shared everything.
Including the same hair struggles growing up.

The long days at the salon.
Trying to make a style last just a little longer.
And yes… creating makeshift bonnets at our grandmother’s house🩲👀 (IYKYK)

We lived it together.

So when Hairbrella started to take shape…

Ashlee wasn’t hearing about it after the fact.

She was right there.

Through the focus groups.
Those hour-long drives to review prototypes.
And back in 2016—
recording our very first ad campaigns.

No audience. No guarantees. Just belief.

Hairbrella grew out of those moments.

She believed anyway.

And now?

Now I’m on full-time auntie duty.

How it started: protecting my hair.
How it’s going: protecting his too.

And it’s funny how things come full circle.

The same hair struggles we grew up navigating…
The same need to protect what we put time and care into…

Now I’m thinking about it for the next generation.

Making sure he can show up,
protected, confident, and ready for whatever the day brings.

And that’s when it really hit me—

This was never just about solving a problem.

It was about creating something that lasts.

It’s why I built Hairbrella the way I did.

Because life doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.

And you deserve to show up for it
feeling like yourself—at every stage.

And before today wraps…

We’re celebrating National Siblings Day the only way that feels right—
by making it a little easier to show up for the people who’ve always shown up for us.

So if you’ve been thinking about it—
don’t overthink it. This is your moment.
