Founders Friday- The View /ABC Story
Hello Founder Friday Family!
If you’ve been with me for a while, you might remember March 2020.
Our very first national TV appearance—on Good Morning America.
Four years of building… leading up to that moment.
And then the producer told me something I’ll never forget:
If we had been scheduled one day later, it wouldn’t have happened.
The country shut down the very next week.
Literally… that close.
So there I was.
After years of work, finally getting our shot on national television -
and within days, the entire world stopped moving.
No one going outside.
No one getting their hair done.
No reason (on the surface) for anything I had built.
Like… really?
I finally get my moment and suddenly the world hits pause? It felt surreal.
And honestly, a little cruel.
But here’s what that season taught me:
Resilience isn’t optional. It’s the business model.
Because that same year—
we grew nearly 8X.
We listened harder.
We innovated faster.
We expanded beyond a single product into a true problem-solving brand.
That moment that felt like the end?
It was actually the beginning.
Fast forward to now.
Six years later, I returned—this time to The View—as one of ABC’s “Powerhouse Brands.”
And I can’t describe how much of a full circle moment this was for me.
To walk back into that space…
not as the brand hoping for a shot—
but as the brand that weathered the storm and scaled anyway.
I was one of five incredible women founders featured—
and the only woman of color in the group.
And I know sometimes there’s conversation around highlighting that.
But for me, it matters.
Because I remember searching for someone who looked like me—
who had taken a patented product and built it into a lasting, scaled brand.
And not finding it.
So moments like this aren’t just milestones.
They’re signals.
Signals that innovation from women - of all backgrounds - belongs in the mainstream.
Signals that what we’re building is bigger than just product.
And more than anything, being there reminded me of this:
Hairbrella has always been about being fearless in any forecast.
Not just the weather.
But the unexpected.
The uncertain.
The moments that test everything you thought you knew.
We didn’t just survive that storm.
We built through it.
And we’re still here - stronger, smarter, and powered by one of the most incredible communities I could have ever asked for.
That’s you.
And speaking of community…
Y’all showed OUT on this sale.
Because of the response, we’ve extended our up to 50% off sale through this weekend.
A few styles sold out (as expected),
but we were able to restock some key SKUs - and I wanted to make sure my Founder Friday crew had first access.
If you’ve been thinking about it, this is your moment.
Six years ago, I thought I was stepping into the biggest moment of my journey.
Turns out… it was just preparing me for this one.
More to come - stay tuned.
