Today marks one full year since we launched the Hairbrella Rain Bonnet — and let me tell you, she’s been that girl ever since.

But to really appreciate this milestone, we’ve got to rewind a bit. Let me take you back to where it all began…

From Plastic Bonnets to #1 Rain Hat 🥇

As many of you know, Hairbrella was born out of sheer frustration with the only rain solutions available—plastic rain bonnets that were barely a step up from a trash bag. In 2016, we launched our flagship product, the Classic Rain Hat. It was a hit, quickly becoming the #1 selling rain hat on Amazon and reaching over 150K happy customers! 🎉

Fast forward to 2022, during a pitch to one of America’s top entrepreneurs, I received feedback that was tough to hear. She admired the brand and my drive but candidly admitted, "...I just wouldn't want to wear one of those."

This comment, though a blow 😅, made me realize that while the Classic was a lifesaver for many, it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

That moment was a turning point. It reminded me that while many find our Classic line to be a perfect blend of style and functionality, tastes and preferences can vary widely. To truly fulfill Hairbrella's mission of being #1 in hair protection from day to night, we realized the importance of diversifying our offerings to cater to different aesthetic preferences.

This insight sparked the development of our revamped, chic rain bonnet, designed to broaden our appeal and meet a wider range of style desires.

Reinventing the Rain Bonnet

I knew the traditional rain bonnet had potential if only it could be upgraded with our touch. We wanted something quick to pop on, packable, stylish enough to complement any outfit, and still offering unmatched hair protection.
